What Developers Need to Know About Google Glass Apps
April 18, 2013 - 1 minute readIt is official Google Glass is here! The new mobile device that everyone is buzzing about has just launched. 8,000 lucky individuals should be expecting special packages to be arriving at their doors any day now. So what should app developers expect?
According to an article in Forbes, the initial terms and conditions prevent developers from showing display advertising in their Google Glass apps. Also all apps submitted must be made available for free use. Putting two and two together, if Google Glass app developers aren’t allowed to charge for the apps they create and can’t earn advertising revenue then how can developers expect to make a living?
Truth is, that each Google Glass app developer is building an app with the hope of either being acquired by a big player like Google or to gain public recognition for creating a great piece of software. We predict that the first batch of apps to be submitted for use with Google Glass are likely to be of high quality. As mobile app developer I expect savvy, experienced and agile app development teams with budgets to spare to be the first to foray into this new platform.
Mobile app developers now have huge opportunity to get in on the ground floor of this new platform. Only time will tell but Google Glass appears to be a huge hit in the making.
